Videocon mobile launched GSM services in India

Videocon group, the popular consumer electronic company in India announced  their GSM mobile service in Tamilnadu area. Videocon GSM service was earlier under the brand datacom solution. The re-branded provider, Videocon mobile communications will commence its GSM services from March 27. Videocon has PAN India license for setting up GSM services. The service will be available in Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Tamilnadu and other telecom circles in India. Videocon is the 13th mobile service provider in India after Tata Docomo and Uninor. They announced attractive traffic plans for calls and value added services.

Videocon will launch future ready 2.75 G network with EDGE facility. They will also participate in upcoming 3G auctions, for license in 20 areas. As per Vinodh Dhood, the chairman and managing director of the videocon group, company expects 3 rd position in the Indian telecom sector by 3 years. They will invest a sum of around 140000 cores in three years for setting up infrastructure, and there by reaching 100 million customer base.

Videocon GSM connection with Life long validity can be activated  by paying 49RS, which also includes 5 RS talk time. The connection is available in all parts of Tamilnadu through Videocon retail outlets and other shops.

The standard plan charges are RS 1/min for local and RS1.5/min for STD calls to home/other networks. The SMS charges in this plan are RS 1/1.5 /5 for local/national and international SMS. Videocon has introduced first time recharge vouchers for enabling per second tariff plans and unlimited calls in a newly purchased SIM card.

Videocon also provides  life time validity on per second plans, for FRC 31 (shown above) as part of inauguration offers. All new Videocon customers enrolling into the service from 15th Mar 2010 until 25th March 2010 will get Rs 75 bonus talk time and 100 national and local SMS free, along with life long validity for one second billing.
Existing Videocon mobile customers can also opt for special tariff plans by recharging with recharge vouchers  shown below.

Apart from this, there are top up recharges ranging from RS 10-300 for getting additional talk time.
Videocon mobile value added services:
Videocon mobile now provides  missed call alert service free for first 3 months. They also have SIM based services like the caller tunes, zodiac forecast, ring tone download, news, etc.  All these services will cost RS 3 per SMS. Videocon mobile GPRS and WAP service charges will be announced later.

The entry of Videocon into GSM services will further make the competition tough in the Indian telecom sector. Now everyone is waiting for 3G and mobile number portability to come into action.
